Fire Works Studio Reconstruction Fund

As most of you have heard by now, a devastating fire leveled the studios of Dexter and Faith Benedict on November 1st.  Both Dexter and Faith are long-time members, volunteers and exhibiting artists at the Arts Center. Many friends, neighbors, and community members have reached out and asked how they could help the Benedicts.
While it is hoped that insurance will cover much of the equipment lost in the blaze, there can be no adequate compensation for the original work lost in the fire nor for the time it will take to rebuild Dexter's sculpting studio and Faith's pottery.  With the Benedict's approval, the board of directors of the Arts Center of Yates County has established a Fire Works Studios Reconstruction Fund.  The purpose of the fund is to help ensure that the Benedicts can emerge from this setback with as little negative financial impact as possible.
Donations to the fund will be available to help Faith and Dexter rebuild their studios and resume their work as full time artists.  If the Benedicts choose not to draw down the entire fund, the remainder will be used as scholarship funds for art students, as directed by Dexter and Faith - both retired art teachers.
Donations to the fund can be made by check or credit card.  Checks should be made out to the Arts Center, with a notation that the gift is intended for the "Fire Works" or "Benedict" fund.  Credit card donations can be made via phone at 315-536-8226.  The Arts Center of Yates County is a nonprofit organization and gifts are tax deductible.
