My paintings are done in an impressionistic style and I paint both in oil and watercolor. Applying oil paint using a palette knife allows for a free and impressionistic feel as color is laid next to color and mixed on the surface. Painting in watercolor presents many challenges, but also many wonderful surprises as experimentation and exploration proceed in the process of creating a watercolor painting.

I use transparent watercolors or rich oils to paint my impressions of the Finger Lakes and Genesee Valley and other places I have visited. I limit my pallet choosing sometimes only four colors that will create the feeling or visual effect desired. Through the mixing and blending of these limited colors, a wide range of hues can be achieved. This creates unity and harmony in the painting.

My love of nature inspires me to create paintings of flowers, plants and other hidden treasures in nature. I paint on location or back in my studio from photographs that I have taken. Painting on location (en plein air) is thrilling and enhances the ability to capture the feeling of the scene.

I hope to bring the viewer of my work, increased awareness of the beauty of flowers, nature, the Finger Lakes region, and beyond.

She exhibits at The Clothesline Show at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery, The Art Barn Show featuring 6 Finger Lakes Artist during the July 4th weekend, and the Plein Air Festival at Billsboro Winery in August.
